Survey study, 2025

# Is the Chinese uncertainty anxiety scale reliable for measuring PMS-related anxiety?

Yes. The scale is reliable and valid for measuring how much women with PMS struggle with uncertainty and worry. This helps identify psychological problems in this group.

 Moderate study design

641 female university students in China with premenstrual syndrome

## What they did

Researchers translated and tested a 24-item questionnaire with 641 female university students in China who had PMS. They checked the scale's reliability and validity using statistical methods.

## What they found

The scale had 8 dimensions and showed excellent internal consistency with Cronbach's alpha of 0.89. Test-retest reliability was 0.947, showing the scale gives consistent results when used again.

## What it means for you

This is a new tool clinicians can use to measure uncertainty anxiety in women with PMS, but the study only included Chinese university students, so results may not apply to other groups.
