# Does web-based health education help women with university-age PMS?

Yes, web-based health education significantly reduced PMS symptoms and improved quality of life, with improvements lasting through at least two more menstrual cycles.

 Moderate study design

67 university students with premenstrual syndrome

## What they did

Randomized controlled trial with 67 university students (33 received web-based education, 34 received no intervention). The education program lasted 4 weeks. Symptoms were measured using questionnaires across three menstrual cycles.

## What they found

The education group showed significant improvements compared to the control group, and these improvements remained significant after two more menstrual cycles. Key improvements included reductions in depressive affect, anxiety, fatigue, irritability, and depressive thoughts. Users found the website easy to use.

## What it means for you

Web-based education may be a helpful way to manage PMS symptoms, especially psychological symptoms. The main limitation is that it was tested only at one university with student participants.
