Survey study, 2024

# Does PMS affect women's quality of life at work?

About 23% of women employees had PMS, and those with PMS had significantly lower work-related quality of life than those without. However, this was from one manufacturing company, so results may not apply elsewhere.

 Early or limited evidence

71 women employees in a pressure cooker manufacturing company

## What they did

Researchers surveyed 71 women employees at a pressure cooker manufacturing company, screening for PMS using a validated scale and assessing work-related quality of life.

## What they found

23% of participants had PMS. Overall, 75% of participants had good work-related quality of life. However, only 36% of women with PMS had good work-related quality of life, compared to 88% of women without PMS.

## What it means for you

PMS significantly impacts work quality of life for affected women. This was a small study in one manufacturing company, so results may not apply to other workplaces or industries. Different types of work may be affected differently.
