# Does group counseling based on positive psychology help students with premenstrual syndrome?

Yes, women who received positive psychology counseling significantly improved their psychological resilience and coping ability immediately and 2 months after treatment (p=0.001).

 Moderate study design

40 students with premenstrual syndrome in 2021

## What they did

Randomized controlled trial with 40 students with PMS in 2021. The intervention group attended 6 group counseling sessions based on Seligman's positive psychology approach. Researchers measured psychological capital scores before the sessions, immediately after, and again 2 months later.

## What they found

The intervention group showed significant increases in psychological capital scores both immediately after the intervention and at 2-month follow-up (p=0.001), while the control group did not improve.

## What it means for you

Positive psychology counseling may help women with PMS develop emotional resilience and better coping skills. The study was small and conducted in one location only, so results may not apply to all women.
