# Can module-based education increase adolescent girls' confidence in managing premenstrual syndrome?

Yes. After receiving module-based education, most girls moved from poor knowledge to adequate or good knowledge about premenstrual syndrome.

 Early or limited evidence

60 adolescent girls

## What they did

Quasi-experimental study of 60 adolescent girls who received module-based education about premenstrual syndrome. Knowledge and self-efficacy were measured before and after.

## What they found

Before education, 93.3% had poor knowledge. After education, 81.7% had adequate knowledge and 18.3% had good knowledge. This improvement was statistically significant (p=0.00).

## What it means for you

Module-based education effectively increased knowledge and confidence about premenstrual syndrome in adolescent girls. A main limitation is this was a small study with no control group, so we cannot be certain the modules caused the improvement.

93.3%

had poor knowledge before education

81.7%

had adequate knowledge after education

18.3%

had good knowledge after education
