Survey study, 2026
Can homoeopathic medicine treat premenstrual syndrome?
In this uncontrolled study, 90% of 30 women showed improvement after individualized homoeopathic treatment over 18 months. Without a comparison group, it is unclear whether improvement was due to the medicine or placebo effect.
What they did
Experimental uncontrolled study of 30 women with PMS over 18 months. Each woman received individualized homoeopathic medicine selected using a specific repertory system. Symptom severity was measured before and after treatment.
What they found
27 of 30 women (90%) showed improvement in symptoms while 3 women (10%) showed no improvement. Statistical analysis showed a highly significant reduction in symptom scores.
What it means for you
The study suggests homoeopathic treatment may help PMS symptoms, but the lack of a control group is a major limitation. Improvement could be due to natural symptom variation, placebo effect, or attention from treatment rather than the medicine itself.
