Survey study, 2015

Do young women recognize how PMS affects work performance?

Most students (79.4%) ignored PMS when rating employee performance, while 6.9% considered it. Students who perceived daily function problems from PMS were significantly more likely to consider it in evaluations. This shows many lack awareness.

Early or limited evidence 1971 incoming female university students

What they did

1971 incoming female university students completed questionnaires and rated an employee's performance in a simulated work scenario where PMS might affect output.

What they found

79.4% of students neglected to consider PMS when evaluating work performance, while only 6.9% considered it. Students who perceived that PMS caused daily function impairment were significantly more likely to recognize its impact on performance.
