What they did

Experimental study of 32 adolescent girls with PMS in Tehran, Iran. The treatment group (16 girls) received 8 weekly sessions of 90-minute transdiagnostic treatment program. A control group of 10 girls received no treatment. Researchers measured symptoms and emotion regulation before and after.

What it means for you

The treatment showed promise for reducing PMS symptoms in adolescent girls. However, the control group was small (10 versus 16), and we do not know if results would apply to older women or in other countries. Only short-term results are reported.
