Does green gram soup and barley porridge help PMS symptoms?
One 14-year-old girl who ate green gram soup and barley porridge during the first three days of her menstrual period reported that her PMS symptoms improved over six menstrual cycles. This is based on just one case, so we cannot be sure it would help others.
What they did
A 14-year-old girl with mild to moderate PMS had been having lower abdominal pain, backache, breast tenderness, constipation, pimples, tiredness, and anger for four months. She was given green gram soup for lunch and barley porridge for dinner for the first three days of her menstrual period, for six menstrual cycles in a row.
What they found
The girl's PMS symptoms were minimized.
What it means for you
This is just one case with no comparison group. It shows one girl's experience but does not measure how much her symptoms improved or test whether the same treatment would work for others.
