Early or limited evidence 10 female prisoners at a Class IIB penitentiary in Lumajang, Indonesia

What they did

Cross-sectional study of 10 female prisoners at a Class IIB penitentiary in Lumajang, Indonesia. All 10 prisoners were included. Researchers analyzed the relationship between stress, PMS, and quality of life using Pearson correlation.

What they found

Moderate correlation between stress and premenstrual syndrome with R equals 0.599, but the correlation was not statistically significant (p greater than 0.05). No statistically significant relationship was found between stress and quality of life.

What it means for you

While stress and PMS appear somewhat related, the study was too small to draw firm conclusions. The very small sample of 10 women and single prison location limit what can be generalized to other populations.
