What are normal measurements for balance and reaction time in women with PMS?
The study recorded specific measurements of proprioception and reaction time in different directions. These are preliminary findings from a small sample that need testing in a much larger group to apply broadly.
What they did
Cross-sectional study at a physiotherapy institute in India. Researchers measured balance (proprioception) and reaction time in females aged 18 to 40 with PMS using equipment called Sensbalance MiniBoard in four directions: front, back, left, and right.
What they found
Proprioception measurements were front 19.47±18.26 degrees, back 7.59±3.66 degrees, left 11.94±12.93 degrees, right 10.99±8.02 degrees. Reaction time was front 0.94±0.32 seconds, back 0.79±0.16 seconds, left 0.91±0.27 seconds, right 0.93±0.50 seconds.
What it means for you
This establishes baseline measurements that may guide future research on how PMS affects balance and coordination. The small sample size and single location in India limit how much these results apply to all women with PMS.
